I understand this list of books is long, but I've tried to include as many different modalities as possible and books of different levels to suit different needs. Please note that some books might not be strictly directed to animals, but I recommend them as very interesting reading for anyone interested in a healthy life and the same principles may apply to our dogs. Also, please note that some of my recommendations are not strictly about holistic methods, but other topics that I deem fundamental to a sound dog. If you're new to this and don't know where to start, please join the Holistic Weimaraner Mailing List, we'll be glad to answer your needs. I have marked with those books that I personally highly recommend and I find a MUST HAVE for the beginner as well as the more advanced - it may or may not agree with amazon's rating, nor does it mean that I do not recommend the rest (if this were the case, they wouldn't be here), it's simply a reference for a starting point. I have also included recommendations from other people on the list, and a list rating on some of the books. 	Organon of the Medical Art by Samuel Hahnemann, Wenda B. O'Reilly (Editor), Steven Decker (Translator). Required reading for the Basic Veterinary Course of The British Institute of Homoeopathy Resonance Magazine, September, 1996 A new translation of the Organon has been released. This book contains not only a new translation, but also a new format, complete with table of contents, index, and glossary, making the Organon easier to use and understand than ever before. O'Reilly's adaptation of the Organon brings much more meaning to light. One problem with previous translations is that the reader could never be sure how accurately key words were translated and what exactly Hahnemann meant by them. To address this problem, O'Reilly provides a glossary of terms in which the German word is given along with the definition that applies to Hahnemann's usage. Even before its publication, it has begun to garner rave reviews. 	Homeopathy Beyond Flat Earth Medicine by Timothy R. Dooley Miranda Castro, FS Hom, Mothering Magazine, Summer 1997 Homeopathy: Beyond Flat Earth Medicine by Timothy R. Dooley, is a gem of a book. Dooley's writing style is informal, conversational, and easy to read. Amazingly, it is mostly jargon-free with the history and philosophy woven throughout in colorful threads rather than delivered in dry, dusty chunks. The explanations are succinct and beautifully digestible. Dooley answers every question I have ever been asked about homeopathy--and many more--while describing virtually every aspect of homeopathic treatment. The chapters are sprinkled with memorable stories, anecdotes, and case histories that are invariably vivid, interesting, humourous, or entertaining--sometimes all at once.
