This is a list of books I recommended on holistic methods for dogs. By purchasing from here you help Weimaraner Rescue, so please buy directly from these links, as I don't get credit for what you buy from Amazon's homepage. Thank you.
I understand this list of books is long, but I've tried to include as many different modalities as possible and books of different levels to suit different needs. Please note that some books might not be strictly directed to animals, but I recommend them as very interesting reading for anyone interested in a healthy life and the same principles may apply to our dogs. Also, please note that some of my recommendations are not strictly about holistic methods, but other topics that I deem fundamental to a sound dog. If you're new to this and don't know where to start, please join the Holistic Weimaraner Mailing List, we'll be glad to answer your needs. I have marked with those books that I personally highly recommend and I find a MUST HAVE for the beginner as well as the more advanced - it may or may not agree with amazon's rating, nor does it mean that I do not recommend the rest (if this were the case, they wouldn't be here), it's simply a reference for a starting point. I have also included recommendations from other people on the list, and a list rating on some of the books. Those that people on the list already have read, are rated from 1 (extremely useless) to 5 (extremely useful/excellent). Dolores Sánchez-Peñalver

The list of books has gotten so long that I've decided to separate the following sections in different pages - please use the links to move to other sections:

Four Paws Five Directions : A Guide to Chinese Medicine for Cats and Dogs by Cheryl Schwartz.

List Rating: 5

*****Recommended by Joanne*****
I find this book is neat because they use a Weimaraner for the illustrations since you can see all the musculature easily. I also bought a copy for my son who is a vet tech and he said that one of the vets in the clinic he works at uses that book a lot. She took classes in animal acupuncture and is working toward more holistic methods.

The author, Shari L. Seymour-Szymanski , June 5, 2000
It's wonderful to help so many dogs and their people I have been very fortunate to meet and capture the wonderful personalities of hundreds of dogs in my artwork during the past twenty-five years of my life. In that time, while working with gifted veterinarians, I have been able to apply safe and effective therapeutic manipulation to help many wonderful creatures. Whether they are in various stages of recovery, athletic dogs or aging dogs, there are ways to help these fine animals to feel better.

The Well-Connected Dog : A Guide to Canine Acupressure by Amy Snow, Nancy Zidonis, Ella Bittel, Carla Stroh.

Dr. Michael W. Fox, Author and Veterinarian
This book is a contribution to the necessary turn-around in our thinking about life and reactions toward disease and suffering. It is indeed a welcome and much needed addition to the growing library of useful texts and manuals on companion animal care and health maintenance. Additionally, there is benefit for those who discover the power of the healing touch. It is something that we can all give, and refine and in the process we facilitate our own healing and wholeness as we relax, focus and touch.

Iona Marsaa Teeguarden, MA, Author
This book does for canine acupressure what my books do for human acupressure, presenting the traditional theory in an easily digestible way and making it very do-able. Just by reading this book and trying the stretches and the point recipes for common problems, you can help your dog's health.
