2004 - Hobbies WCA National Specialty -Ontario, California
Hobbies! What an interesting and challenging theme! Our assignment was to illustrate our weims participating in our favorite hobbies! For some of us, our individual designs came to us easily, some of us couldn't figure out just what our hobby was, other than our weims. As each block was completed, it was obvious that the group had once again created an amazing piece of art. This piece of art trully captures the spirit of the artists themselves! What fun it was to portray ourselves in the whimsical weims on this quilt. You see, this is unusual as this group is made up of very selfless people. You know the kind, the ones who always do for others and rarely stop to recognize just how special they are. As you look at each block and read the quilter's biography, you will notice one common thread - a good heart and soul. The quilter's in this group put more effort into one 11 inch square quilt block then a lot of quilters put into a whole quilt. The pictures are beautiful, but if you ever get a chance to see one of these fabulous quilts in person, you will be amazed at the detail and love put into every stitch! You can read about each of the contributor's to this year's quilt here. This quilt raised $6800 for the Weimaraner Foundation Fund - Rescue Fund! Thank you to all who bought tickets, contributed to the quilt, sold tickets. |
